The launch of the training course on the role of women in peacebuilding

The work of the first training course on women and peace building began today, organized by the Human Rights Information and Training Center (HRITC), in cooperation with the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict, GPPAC.
55 participants from different countries are participating in the session under the supervision of Professor Fadi Abi Allam, head of the Permanent Peace Movement in Lebanon for two days.
The session focuses on the importance of International Resolution 1325 related to strengthening the role of women in building peace, the steps and activities that are supposed to work on in the pre-conflict phase, and how to avoid conflicts, enhance confidence for, and maintain peace.
Mr. Arafat Al-Rafid, Executive Director of the Human Rights Information and Training Center, opened the session by stressing the importance of the session at a stage witnessing continuous conflicts in most of the Arab region.
Mr. Ziad Khaled, Director of the HRITC in Lebanon, for his part, said: The training course is part of a cooperation program with the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict (GPPAC). The program includes four courses in the field of strengthening the active role of women in building peace, as well as the implications of the Corona pandemic on Woman’s rights.
Sherine Al-Jardi, Coordinator and Regional Liaison Officer for GPPAC said: “Promoting peacebuilding is a matter of special priority to achieve stability in the entire region,” noting that civil society is a fundamental and effective partner in building peace and preventing conflicts.
It is worth noting that this course is the first in the program of the Human Rights Information and Training Center that includes a series of courses and training materials in the field of peacebuilding.
