HRITC calls on the Iranian authorities to repeal death sentences against peaceful demonstrators

Human Rights Information and Training Center-hritc strongly condemned the decision of a court in Iran to execute three men who participated in the November 2019 protests, and the centre called on the judicial authorities to repeal the death sentences against the three men, Amir Hussain Muradi, Saeed Tamjidi and Muhammad Rajabi, and to release all individuals whom They were arrested during peaceful demonstrations.
On Thursday, as part of an international campaign of solidarity with the three men, international experts at the United Nations issued a strong statement to stop the death sentences and speed up the release of the detainees. The experts said in a statement issued on Thursday: “We join today hundreds of thousands of Iranians who have condemned on social media Those death sentences. We urge the head of the judiciary to repeal this decision and to conduct an immediate and independent judicial review. “
On July 14, the Supreme Court of Iran upheld the death sentences of the three people on charges of carrying weapons to kill or seize property, spreading terror among the public, and participating in acts of sabotage and arson during their participation in the large-scale demonstrations in Iran Last November, in protest of the government changing its policy of dealing with fuel prices.
The three men denied the charges and reported that they had been tortured to extract their confessions.
