Solidarity with organizations and defenders who are being violated is subject to intimidation and pressure
HRITC in a statement to the Human Rights Council:
Solidarity with organizations and defenders who are being violated is subject to intimidation and pressure
The Human Rights Information and Training Center (HRITC) said that solidarity with organizations or human rights defenders who are being violated has become a major dilemma due to political trends, pressures and threats by the parties to the conflict against the solidarity activists.
This came in the statement that was deposited with the Human Rights Council today, Tuesday, in response to the third report of the group of eminent international and regional experts on Yemen.
HRITC indicated that the report of the expert group should have included this, especially since the Commission’s report referred to only one case.
In the statement presented by the Human Rights Information and Training Center (HRITC), Haqqi Center for Supporting Rights and Freedoms in Geneva, the Regional Network of Human Rights Activists and the Yemeni League in Switzerland, the issuance of the third report of the Group of Eminent International and Regional Experts on Yemen was commended.
The statement pointed to the weakness of the team’s monitoring and investigation tools due to several factors, according to paragraph 7 of the report, indicating that the biggest dilemma lies in the lack of the team’s presence in Yemen and the limited cooperation with Yemeni civil society organizations that must be strengthened as these organizations are the best tools. In such cases, for more comprehensive statistics of human rights violations.
For his part, Arafat Al-Rafid, Executive Director of the Human Rights Information and Training Center (HRITC), confirmed that the decision to extend this team formed a prominent division in the Human Rights Council on an important human rights issue, and a country classified as experiencing the greatest human tragedy at the present time.
It is a weak point due to the accusations directed at the decision because it contains political justifications, explaining that the team’s transgression of a number of violations committed by the parties to the conflict, especially violations that affect the basic freedoms of individuals in Taiz Governorate, represents an additional weakness that must be quickly remedied.
