349 violations, documented by HRITC, affected civilians during last October, in Taiz

The Human Rights Information and Training Center (HRITC) announced that it has documented 349 incidents of human rights violations that affected civilians in Taiz Governorate during the month of October 2020.

The center said in a press statement today about a report on the human rights situation for the month of October entitled (Education Under Bombing) that the human rights situation was subjected to multiple violations and that its field team was able to document the killing of 20 civilians, including a woman and 5 children. The Houthi militia caused the killing of 11 civilians, including two children. And a woman, 7 civilians were killed by artillery shells, including two children and a woman, and 3 civilians were killed by sniper fire, and 3 civilians were killed by direct bullets.

Militants outside the state’s framework killed 3 civilians with direct bullets, while a child was killed in an explosion that occurred inside a camp for factions in the army, and multiple factions affiliated with the government army caused the killing of two civilians by direct bullets of members of the government army, and two children were killed by artillery shelling, while one civilian was killed by direct bullets of unknown armed men.
HRITC field team monitored the injury of 95 civilians, including 5 women and 20 children, the Houthi militia injured 68 civilians, including 5 women and 14 children, 5 of them, including two women and two children, were wounded by sniper bullets, while 63 civilians, including 3 women and 12 children, were injured by shrapnel of artillery shells.

Militants outside the country wounded 3 civilians, including a child, with direct bullets, and one civilian was wounded by an explosive device, and 3 civilians were injured as a result of the assault on them by armed men outside the state. Unidentified gunmen injured two civilians with direct bullets and 10 others by an explosive device, and was wounded during an attempt The killing with a sharp object was carried out by unidentified gunmen, two civilians.

In addition, one civilian was wounded by bullets from members of multiple factions in the government army, and artillery shelling by multiple factions in the government army injured 5 civilians, including 3 children.
The field team of the Human Rights Information and Rehabilitation Center documented the kidnapping and arrest of 49 civilians, including 6 children. The Houthi militia committed 4 cases, of which it arrested 20 civilians, including a girl, and armed members of the army committed 3 other cases, during which 15 civilians were arrested, including 5 children, and the Yemeni joint forces committed on the coast Al-Gharbi was one case, during which 11 civilians were kidnapped, and unidentified persons committed 3 cases, during which 3 civilians were kidnapped, including a child.

The field team of the Human Rights Information and Training Center (HRITC) documented, according to the International Organization for Migration, the displacement of 128 families in Taiz during the past October, and also documented the occurrence of 12 cases of violation of freedom of opinion and expression, 10 of which were committed by armed men outside the state, while members of the army committed two cases, as well as the occurrence of an assault case. One was committed by a gunman outside the framework of the state.

HRITC team monitored 44 cases of violation of public and private property, including 5 cases of public property, where the Houthis bombed Al-Amal Hospital for Cancer Diseases, the yard of the 7 July School, Al-Mithaq School Square, Al-Shaheed Al-Thalaya School, and the College of Arts.
39 cases of violation of private property were monitored, including 4 homes totally damaged, 11 houses partially damaged and 9 vehicles as a result of the bombing, the bombing of a house and the storming of 4 other houses by the Houthi militia, and members of the Houthi militia closed an oil station and stole more than 5 million Yemeni riyals and detained 6 Oil tankers and their sale, and other individuals raided the shops of a number of citizens in the city of Al-Rahda by the Houthi militia, confiscating the new edition of the currency, assaulting the owners of shops and shops selling sweets, shooting and forcing many merchants to hand over the sums. Also, a number of shops were closed under the pretext of dealing with the new edition. From the currency.
Meanwhile, unidentified gunmen stormed a private school and destroyed students’ documents.

The monthly report issued by the center titled “Education Under Bombing” indicated that the Houthi militia intentionally intensified its bombardment on the eastern neighborhoods of the city from the places where it was stationed in Tibet Sofitel and Al Sallal, especially the residential neighborhoods overcrowded with civilians in the Salh district, in addition to the Cairo directorate and Al-Dhabab area in Jabal Habashi and Al Shaqab village Patiently affectionate.
The center confirmed in its report that the Houthi militia deliberately bombed schools on the first day of the school year, which coincided with the fourth of October, with more than 70 shells, causing panic and great panic among its students.
The report revealed that it had monitored 5 cases of assassination, committed by members of the government army, two of them and two other cases, committed by armed men outside the framework of the state, while unknown gunmen committed only one case, resulting in the killing of 4 civilians, and members of the army killed two of them, and another unknown armed men were killed, as well as militants outside the state. And two civilians were wounded by armed men outside the framework of the state, while another escaped death at their hands.
Since the beginning of October, there have been three incidents of explosions with IEDs targeting security and military patrols, and the security services have not yet revealed the circumstances of these three incidents and those behind them.
