Emphasis on supporting an effective regional mechanism to protect cultural and social rights

Participants in a symposium towards a vision for strengthening mechanisms to protect economic, social, and cultural rights stressed the need for states and official bodies to intervene to promote cultural and social rights worldwide and to provide effective initiatives to protect creators and restore cultural rights that have been widely affected by the precautionary measures taken by countries of the world to confront the spread of the Coronavirus.
This came in the symposium, held by the Human Rights Information and Training Center (HRITC), in cooperation with ICESCO, through visual communication technology today, Sunday, under the title: (Towards a vision for strengthening mechanisms for protecting cultural and social rights: challenges of reality and prospects for the future), with the participation of Ambassador Ezzadin Al-Asbahi, Ambassador of Yemen to Morocco, Pro. Amin Al-Midani, Professor of Law at the University of Strasbourg, and Mr. Alaa Shalaby, President of the Arab Organization for Human Rights, with participants a group of experts and activists.
The discussions of the participants concluded with the need to enhance the integration of roles between government agencies, the private sector, and civil society organizations to bridge the knowledge gap in the region and work to enhance social protection programs also enhance the role of cultural and educational institutions to ensure the maintenance of economic, social and cultural rights, support the initiative of creativity protection funds and activate a legal path at the regional level that guarantees Protecting and promoting these rights.
Furthermore, ICESCO confirmed in the symposium through the speech of its Director-General, Dr. Salem Al-Malik, that the organization will continue to cooperate closely with its member states to develop, support, and keep pace with all projects, initiatives, and efforts aimed at ensuring that the peoples of the countries of the Islamic world enjoy their full social and cultural rights and that the discussion on this type of rights becomes an issue shortly.
In addition to the main speakers, several cultural and human rights figures participated in the seminar, and the dialogue was moderated by lawyer Ziyad Khaled, Director of the Human Rights Information and Training Center (HRITC) in Beirut.
