The start of the third Strasbourg International Human Rights session
The third Strasbourg workshop was launched under the title “Regional Systems for the Protection of Human Rights and the Protection of Vulnerable Groups”, organized by the Arab Center for Education on International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights, the Association for the Defense of Human Rights, Basma International Group for Humanitarian Aid and the Human Rights Information and Training Center (HRITC).
The workshop began with a lecture entitled “An Introduction to International Protection for Vulnerable Groups” delivered by the President of the Arab Center for Education on International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights, Professor Muhammad Amin al-Maidani. This was followed by a lecture on “The Council of Europe Organization and the Protection of Vulnerable Groups” given by Professor Florence Benoit-Romerre, representing the University of Strasbourg.
Then came a lecture on the “African Charter on Human Rights and the Protection of Vulnerable Groups” by Professor Eduardo Stobione. And the conclusion is in a lecture on “The Arab Charter for Human Rights and the Protection of Vulnerable Groups” presented by Professor Meidani before questions and discussion.
The course, in which activists and young people from different Arab countries participate, also includes scholars from the Department of Postgraduate Studies at the University of Strasbourg, France.
This year’s program focuses on regional mechanisms for the protection of human rights and the protection of vulnerable groups, and training programs will be provided in both Arabic and English on 17-18 November.
The program also includes practical visits to the European Court of Human Rights, the European Parliament and the Council of Europe, where Strasbourg is the main headquarters of these organizations.
