The Human Rights Information and Training Center (HRITC), in cooperation with the Haqqi Center for Supporting Rights and Freedoms in Geneva (CRSRF), is participating with a joint team in the work of the 50th session of the Human Rights Council, which begins next Monday, June 13, and continues until July 8, 2022.
The team’s participation includes a written statement entitled “The siege of Taiz exacerbates the humanitarian situation, human rights violations and the number of displaced people.” It was submitted to the session to be among the official documents of the session.
The Houthi militia is to break up humanitarian issues to achieve its political and military goals, by keeping the siege of Taiz on the evasive table, which has become a clear matter, and the statement called on the international community to stand up to this matter and prevent it from happening.
HRITC participation also includes delivering a number of oral statements related to human rights violations in Yemen and a number of countries that will be delivered in the session in a number of interactive dialogues within the ten items on the agenda of the Human Rights Council.
The statements will address freedom of opinion and expression, the right to education, and violations related to internally displaced persons. , violence against women, the independence of judges and lawyers, and other topics, in addition to oral statements in a number of panel discussions and the Universal Periodic Review of Human Rights in Sudan and Syria.
It is new to mention that Legal Counsel Hani Al-Aswadi, representative of HRITC in Geneva, participated in the organizational session of the 50th session of the Human Rights Council on May 30, and on June 3 he attended the coordination meeting with the President of the Human Rights Council, Mr. Federico Villegas and accredited NGOs.
