Taiz governorate is witnessing a serious escalation in patterns of violence and violations related to the deterioration of living and security conditions, which poses a direct threat to the right to life and personal security.
There has been an alarming increase in murders, particularly within the family, with a young man slaughtering his mother and stabbing his father and brother in Sharab district in late May, in one of the most heinous crimes that reflects social disintegration & severe psychological pressure.
Suicides related to high prices and deteriorating living conditions have also increased, with the Al-Masrakh district recording the highest suicide rates during this period, an indication of the absence of social protection networks and psychological support. On the security front, a number of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were found, some of which were camouflaged in the forms of objects that people used to, one of which was found in the Al-Mahsab area of Sina and other areas, exacerbating the state of fear and putting civilians, including women and children, in constant danger.
