Human Rights Information and Training Center (HRITC) calls on the Secretary-General of the United Nations to stop the killing of journalists in Yemen
———-
It confirms that the indicator of the success of the international envoy to Yemen is the release of the detainees, first of all.
Taiz – 11/4/2020
In a statement today, Human Rights Information and Training Center (HRITC) condemned what the Houthi militia in Sana’a had done through its specialized criminal court to pass a death sentence on journalists kidnapped in its prisons five years ago.
HRITC said in its statement that the Houthi group today responded to all the initiatives of the international community regarding the promotion of the peace path in Yemen with an unprecedented step in destroying all bridges of peace and stability in Yemen and committing a grave crime punishable by international law and violating all human rights covenants and principles, by continuing the abuse And torture of journalists kidnapped in its prisons for nearly five years.
A court affiliated with the Houthi militia in Sanaa, today, Saturday 4/4/2020, sentenced to death four kidnapped journalists for the group 5 years ago.
The Houthi court directed the execution of the journalists (Abdel Khaleq Omran, Akram Al-Walidi, Tawfiq Al-Mansouri, Harith Hamid), and several other
kidnappers are still in prison.
Several international reports have confirmed that dozens of writers, journalists and youth have been subjected to severe torture in the prisons of Al-Houthi in Sana’a, Dhamar, Ibb and Al-Saleh prison in Taiz.
Everyone in those prisons is subjected to systematic torture, and many have died as a result.
Human Rights Information and Training Center (HRITC), a regional organization holding consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations, confirmed its strong condemnation of the provisions issued today against the kidnapped journalists in Sanaa.
HRITC demanded the immediate release of them and the need to provide all protection and means of support for them, including health care and psychological aid because the serious torture they receive during all these years are serious crimes against humanity and violations that Yemen has not known before.
HRITC called on the United Nations organization, led by the Secretary-General and the High Commissioner for Human Rights, to stop the series of killing journalists and the release of all detainees, as they are awaiting certain death in prisons in Yemen due to the deteriorating situation in them.

Human Rights Information and Training Center (HRITC) further requested the UN Secretary-General’s envoy to Yemen that the solution of this issue immediately and work for the release of all detainees is an indication of the real progress of his work on the ground in the path of enhancing confidence and spreading the spirit of peace.
HRITC said that all forces in Yemen are required today to make a serious stance to stop these crimes and at all levels of pressure considering the silence on war crimes and crimes committed in Yemen is participation in and encouragement of the forces of extremism that today practice the worst types of terrorism against the people who are under the whip of oppression.
