The Human Rights Information and Training Center “HRITC” launched its semi-annual report on the humanitarian situation in Taiz, in which it documented the occurrence of 482 violations against civilians during the first half of the year 2020.
In the report entitled “Taiz. The Triple Siege, Chaos and Diseases”, the Center revealed the extent of the violations committed by the various parties that manage the conflict in the province, headed by the Houthi militia.
The cases committed by this militia amounted to 311 violations, followed by gunmen outside the state, whose violations amounted to about 85 violations. violations by individuals belonging to political factions in the government army 38 violations, and unknown gunmen committed 35 violations, and 13 violations occurred as a result of clashes between members of the security The government army and armed men outside the framework of the state.
The report was able to document the killing of about 102 civilians, including 21 women and 19 children. The Houthi militia killed 59 civilians, including 14 women and 16 children, of whom 31 civilians, including 10 women and 7 children, were killed by various shells and missiles launched by the Houthi militia on residential neighbourhoods intensively. In addition, 6 civilians, including two women and 3 children, were killed by snipers, and 11 civilians were killed by direct fire by Houthi militants.
Landmines and improvised explosive devices planted by the Houthi militia in the streets, farms and homes killed 4 civilians, including a woman and two children. In addition, 4 civilians, including 3 children and a woman, died of burns and two civilians were executed and one child was tortured to death by the Houthi militia.
Outside the government, gunmen killed 28 civilians, including 5 women and 2 children, of whom 26 civilians, including 4 women and 2 children, were killed by direct fire, while one civilian was executed and a military kit ran over one woman.
Individuals affiliated with the political factions in the government army killed 5 civilians, including a woman and a child. Unidentified gunmen also killed 10 civilians, including one woman. Of them, 8 civilians were killed by direct fire and a woman was killed by hanging and burning.
The Center’s field team documented data on 182 civilian casualties during the reporting period (January 1 – June 30, 2020), including 36 children and 21 women, Houthi militia injured 83 civilians, including 18 women and 23 children, with 49 civilians injured by shells and missiles, including 11 women and 11 Children. Snipers, injured 17 civilians including 6 women and 4 children, and 5 civilians, including a woman and a child, were wounded by direct fire, while 12 civilians, including 7 children, were wounded by mines and explosive devices.
Outside the government, gunmen wounded 20 civilians, including two women and 3 children, as 16 civilians, including two women, were wounded by direct fire, and 4 civilians, including 3 children, were run over by a military crew.
While members of factions in the government army injured 12 civilians, including one woman and 6 children, 9 of them, including one woman and 5 children, were wounded by direct fire, and 3 civilians, including one child, were wounded by severe beatings.
Unidentified gunmen wounded 8 civilians, including 3 children, with direct fire, while 5 civilians, including one child, were wounded as a result of clashes between members of the government army and gunmen outside the government.
The centre said in its report that it documented 4 cases of violations of freedom of opinion and expression, three of which were committed by security agencies affiliated with security factions and the government army, and armed men committed one outside the government.
He also documented 12 assaults, 6 of which were committed by individuals belonging to political factions in the government army, 5 cases by gunmen outside the government, and unidentified gunmen committed one.
The centre documented 12 cases of kidnapping and enforced disappearance. Gunmen outside the framework of the state committed four of them. Unidentified gunmen committed four other cases, while members of factions in the army committed two cases and the Houthi militia committed two cases.
HRITC team also documented seven cases of arrests, three of which were committed by members of the General Army’s General Security and three others by unknown persons, while gunmen outside the country committed one case, all of which took place in April.
The team monitored the displacement of 46 people from the marginalized group in March to the camp for the displaced in the centre of Tor Al-Baha district, and the Houthi militia committed eight bloody massacres, killing 27 civilians, including 8 women and 8 children, and 33 civilians, including 7 women and 5 children, were injured.
The team also monitored 171 cases of violations of public and private property, including 11 cases of public property, Houthi militia caused 5 cases, and individuals belonging to factions in the army caused 3 cases, and gunmen outside the country caused two cases. While one case occurred due to clashes between gunmen outside State framework and members of the government army.
Those violations affected 160 private civilian eyes, causing 116 cases of Houthi militia, and individuals belonging to the factions in the army caused 4 cases, while gunmen outside the government caused 24 cases, and unknown gunmen caused 9 cases, and 7 cases occurred due to clashes between gunmen Outside the framework of the state and members of the government army.

The report indicated that the confirmed cases of infection with Coronavirus, according to official statistics, exceeded one hundred as of mid-June 2020, and deaths exceeded 30 cases.
HRITC confirmed after its report that the governorate of Taiz suffers today from a clear situation of collective sanctions that is caused first by the blockade of the Houthi militia, as well as the weakness of the legitimate state institutions and the weakness of humanitarian aid by Arab coalition countries or international organizations.
