HRITC calls on the Arab coalition to disclose the results of the bombing investigations

Human Rights Information and Training Center “hritc” urgently called for announcing the results of the investigations that the Arab Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen led by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates said it was conducting regarding airstrikes that targeted civilians, and stated that they were carried out in error.
A press release issued today by the center, which is a regional organization holding the consultative status with the Economic and Social Council at the United Nations, indicated that it followed developments in the situation in Yemen, especially this week, in which extensive operations of exchange of bombing, targeting of civilian sites and severe damage emerged.
The most recent of which was carried out by the Arab Coalition Airlines, led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, on Wednesday 15 July 2020, when a coalition airstrike targeted a house in Al Masafa village in Al Marazeeq area east of Al Hazm city in Al Jawf governorate, eastern Yemen.
This bombing is the second coalition attack this week that resulted in civilian casualties. On July 12, another airstrike targeted civilians in Hajjah Governorate, northwest of Yemen.
The Houthi militia bombed a center with heavy artillery, as happened on Thursday, July 16 in the Al-Dabi area in the Qubita district in the north of Lahj governorate. As well as on the last Monday and Tuesday, July 13 and July 14, with two successive rocket attacks on heavily populated neighborhoods in the city of Ma’rib, east of Yemen, which resulted in deaths and injuries civilians.
Human Rights Information and Training Center – HRITC called to stop targeting all civilian facilities and the need to implement the rules of engagement stipulated by international humanitarian law and to stop violating them by all warring powers. Which stressed the prohibition of targeting civilians and considering targeting them a war crime, and stressed the need to provide protection to civilians and preserve On the principles of humanity during armed conflict.
The Center called for the cessation of targeting of civilian facilities, objects and infrastructure, and not to bomb any places where civilians may be subject to death or injuries.
The Center also called on the Arab coalition to abide by the primary goal for which it was formed, which is to support legitimacy in Yemen, end the coup d’etat of the Houthi militia, and not be neutral.
The Center’s statement stressed the need for the international community, especially the Security Council, to rapidly implement international legitimacy decisions, led by Resolution No. 2216 as the cornerstone for peace in Yemen.
The Center also called for the speedy conduct of investigations and the announcement of their results in accordance with the rules of international law, stressing the need for investigations to be transparent and impartial and ensure accountability of the perpetrators and compensation to victims and their families.
