There are indications that the higher leaderships of the warring parties in Yemen have covered the crimes and violations and are not seeking to stop them
Hritc Geneva:
Human Rights Information and Training Center (HRITC), the regional network of human rights activists, and the Haqqi Center for Supporting Rights and Freedoms in Geneva, today, Tuesday, renewed their demand for the presence of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in all regions of Yemen. This came during an oral statement delivered by Hani Al-Asoudi on behalf of NGOs at the Human Rights Council in Geneva, in response to the oral update of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.
The NGO statement stressed that all parties have committed widespread violations of human rights due to the absence of accountability, which has contributed to the spread of impunity, indicating that all evidence indicates that the higher leaders cover the parties to the war and do not move to stop these crimes and violations or take any efforts to achieve accountability. Indicating that the Houthi coup against power in September 2014 created a number of de facto authorities in various Yemen, whether under the rule of the Houthi group, the legitimate government, or the Arab coalition and the armed groups supported by it.
The statement called on the High Commissioner for Human Rights to make more efforts to curb the grave violations committed by the warring parties, whether from the local fighters or regional actors who have turned Yemen into a theater for settling political scores. It also called on the Commission to achieve the objectives by which its country office was established in Yemen and to fully interact with the communications and reports of civil society organizations, as it is the first monitor. Urgent dispatch of investigation missions to Yemen. It also exerts more efforts to release detainees and limit arrests and enforced disappearances.
