Human rights claims for the Human Rights Council to send investigation committees to release detainees in Yemen

A statement issued by the HRITC and the Regional Network for Human Rights Activists, the Haqqi Center for Supporting Rights and Freedoms in Geneva and the Yemeni League in Switzerland called for the Human Rights Council and the High Commissioner for Human Rights to send truth committees and work hard to release detainees in Yemen to enjoy their freedoms.
The statement, which was presented at today’s session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, chaired by Ms. Zabet Tiche, President of the Human Rights Council, Ms. Michelle Bachelet, High Commissioner for Human Rights, and all member states of the Council referred to this.
Delivered by Dr. Akram Abdul Ghani Muhammad, one of the former detainees, in the public debate on the third item on the agenda of the 45th session of the Human Rights Council. That the parties to the war in Yemen conduct consultations less than 100 kilometers from the headquarters of the Human Rights Council in Geneva under the auspices of the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross to release 1,420 prisoners And arrested. Indicating that thousands more are waiting for a political settlement in order to be able to enjoy their freedom.
The statement pointed out that the severe violations of restrictions on freedoms and the illegal arrests are one of the largest violations that are now occurring in Yemen.
“Thousands of detainees are detained without charges being brought and without being referred to the competent judiciary and they are often subjected to torture that leads to death or disability in some cases,” the statement said.
Usually, people arrested in unknown places and have nothing to do with any of the parties to the war, regardless of their profession or the nature of their activities, and human rights defenders remain the most targeted group.
At the end of the statement, an appeal made to the mothers of detainees to urgently intervene to release their relatives and limit the arrests, and not to leave the matter to political solutions that bear success and failure among the parties to the war.
