HRITC urges Sudan to implement international obligations and promote the course of rights and freedoms

The Human Rights Information and Training Center – HRITC today, in its speech at the Human Rights Council session in Geneva, under the tenth item, stressed the importance of strengthening the human rights course in Sudan and supporting the proposals of the Special Rapporteur.
In addition, support the existing democratic transformation by providing full assistance to Sudan at this stage.
Human Rights Information and Training Center – HRITC statement presented today by Lisa Al-Badawi in Geneva on behalf of the center, together with the regional network of human rights activists in Yemen and the Gulf, Haqqi Center and the Yemeni League in Switzerland, stressed the need for Sudan to abide by the obligations established on it, to strengthen the margin of freedoms, civil society and peacebuilding.
The statement urged Sudan to:
- Implementing the voluntary pledges made by Sudan before its election to the Human Rights Council in October 2019.
- The speedy accession to basic international human rights instruments, including the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and the Convention against Torture (CAT).
As well as commitment to establish independent commissions stipulated in the constitutional document, especially the Human Rights Commission, in accordance with the Paris Principles, the Commission for Women and Social Justice.
HRITC speech came during the plenary session of the Human Rights Council today in Geneva.
