The International Academy for Human Rights organizes, in partnership with the Human Rights Information and Training Center (HRITC), the Basma International Group, and the Arab Center for Education on International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights
The webinar entitled: “The Right to Asylum between the Challenges of Integration and Return”
Several human rights specialists from various Arab countries will participate in the symposium, and life experiences will be presented and discussion will be opened among the participants.
According to the program of the symposium, the opening speech will be delivered by Ambassador Ezzadin Al-Asbahi, the Ambassador of the Republic of Yemen in Morocco.
Prof. Mohamed Amin Al-Maidani – President of the Arab Center for Education in International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights, Strasbourg, France, will deliver
Paper on the right to asylum and refugee rights.
The experience of Lebanon will be presented in the paper of Professor Mamoun Jumaa – a Member of the Syrian Refugee Committee in Lebanon.
Presented Germany’s experience to Dr. Imad Shehadeh – Doctor of International Relations and expert in human development and administrative development, Germany,
Furthermore a speech by Dr. Bahija Jamal – Professor of International Law, Faculty of Muhammadiyah Law, Hassan II University, Casablanca, Morocco, on the new Moroccan policy of immigration and asylum,
As will the Jordanian experience, lawyer Kamal Mashreqi, and the Yemeni activist, Lisa Al-Badawi – Secretary-General of the Haqqi Center for Supporting Rights and Freedoms, Geneva,
Moreover on the second day 9/18/2021
Dr. Gulshan Soglam, General Manager of Basma International Group, Beirut, will participate with an introduction on the right to return and the challenges it faces.
As the Tunisian experience will be presented, Professor Hajar Habchi, Director of the Arab Institute for Human Rights in Tunisia,
On the issue of the problems of return, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Awadi, head of the Center for Migration Studies at the American University in Cairo, will speak.
The Egyptian experience will be presented by the lawyer, Mr. Ahmed Badawy – President of the Egyptian Foundation for Supporting Refugees (EFRR),
Lawyer Hokerstowe – representative of the People’s Rescue Organization in Iraq – will participate in the Iraqi experience,
The Turkish experience will be presented by Professor Ahlam Suleiman, an activist in the rights of Syrian refugees.
At the conclusion of the symposium, the most important recommendations for the outcomes of the symposium will be produced.
The symposium will be held at eight o’clock Yemen and Beirut local time on 17-18 September 2021.
