HRITC calls on the Human Rights Council, the Human Rights Council and the judicial organs and Yemeni civil society
Geneva: special
The Human Rights Information and Training Center (HRITC), in cooperation with the Haqqi Center for Supporting Rights and Freedoms, called on the Human Rights Council to provide technical and technical support to the Yemeni judicial bodies in order to conduct investigations into the observed violations, and refer them to justice, to ensure justice for the victims and criminals. Do not pass unpunished, this was stated in the statement delivered today by human rights defender Lisa El-Badawy as part of the general debate on the tenth item on the agenda of the Council currently held in Geneva at its #HRC48 session.
In the statement, Al-Badawi stressed that the support provided to the National Committee to investigate violations in accordance with paragraph 17 of Human Rights Council resolution 36/31 on Yemen, as well as subsequent decisions under the same item, is insufficient.
Al-Badawi indicated that Yemeni NGOs also need technical support from the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights to raise the capacities of their workers and monitors and to enable them to issue periodic reports according to international bases indicating the need for these organizations for financial support from donor countries to be able to carry out their tasks in documenting and monitoring human rights violations, especially those organizations in areas not controlled by the Houthi militia.
