The Human Rights Information and Training Center (HRITC) announced that it documented 85 cases of violations last August in Taiz Governorate, of which the Houthi militia committed 76 violations, and armed men outside the state committed 4 violations, while unknown gunmen committed 3 violations, and members of the government army committed only two violations.
The center said in its monthly report entitled “Taiz: Continuous Killing” that its field team documented the killing of 8 civilians, including a woman and 5 children. The Houthi militias caused the death of 7 civilians, including 4 children and a woman. One woman was killed by a Houthi sniper’s bullets, and 5 civilians were killed, including them. 4 children were killed by shrapnel from mortar shells, and one civilian was killed by direct bullets from the Houthi militia, while one child was killed by direct bullets from a member of the government army.
The field center team was able to monitor the injury of 25 civilians, including 11 children. The Houthi militia caused the injury of 21 of them, including 10 children. 14 civilians, including 6 children, were injured by mortar shells, 3 civilians, including two children, were injured by landmines, while 3 civilians, including two children, were injured by sniper bullets. One civilian was injured in a Houthi drone strike.
Two civilians, including a child, were injured by direct bullets from gunmen outside the state, and two civilians were killed by a bomb explosion by gunmen outside the state.
The Center’s field team documented one assassination case carried out by unknown gunmen, in which Political Security officer Adnan Abdul Karim Mahmoud Al-Muhaya, a member of the Joint Committee to Investigate the Assassination of UN Official Moayad Hamidi, was assassinated.
It also documented one case of mass arrest committed by a member of the government army, of a woman and three of her children, and the field team also documented one case of assault committed by unknown gunmen.
49 cases of violations of private property committed by the Houthi militia were also documented, except for one case committed by an unknown gunman, in which 18 houses were partially damaged, 7 others completely, and 16 vehicles. Four houses were completely destroyed, several farms were burned, and a number of livestock were killed by artillery shelling by the Houthi militia.
A tuk-tuk vehicle was completely damaged by the explosion of a landmine belonging to the Houthi militia, and a house was partially damaged by bullets from an unknown gunman.
The Center had also documented the occurrence of a heinous bloody massacre committed by the Houthi militia on August 23, which led to the killing of five, including 4 children, and the wounding of 10 other civilians, all from one family, with fragments of a mortar shell fired by the Houthi militia at their house, which was completely destroyed in the village of Al-Ghusha in Maqbanah District.
