HRITC launches a qualitative report documenting the most prominent violations during nine years of siege in Taiz

The Human Rights Information and Training Center (Hritc) launched a qualitative report on the siege in Taiz, which today exceeds nine years of the imposed siege, which has exceeded 3,300 days today.
The center said in its report entitled (Taiz Under Siege… Nine Years of Pain and Resilience) that the Houthi militia’s siege of Taiz has caused a deterioration in the humanitarian situation and severe suffering for the population, as the population faces an acute shortage of food, water and medicine, in addition to the interruption of basic services such as electricity and water.
The population also suffers from ongoing human rights violations, including indiscriminate bombing, attacks on civilians, detention, displacement, and destruction of civilian infrastructure.

The center revealed the most prominent violations that affected civilians since the Houthi militia stormed during the period from March 21, 2015 to June 30, 2024, most of which were committed directly by the Houthi militia, in addition to various parties inside the besieged city, which were formed as a result of the militia’s coup and the spread of chaos. These violations amounted to what was able to The center’s team accessed and documented about 45,263 violations.
The death toll reached 4,146 civilians, including 891 children and 466 women, while the number of injured reached 18,065 civilians, including 2,176 children and 2,669 women.
Tens of thousands of mines planted by the Houthi militias claimed the lives of about 781 civilians, according to what was found by the Centre’s field monitoring team, including 38 children and 23 women, and 1,308 civilians were injured, including 76 children and 30 women.
There were 504 cases of kidnapping of civilians, 175 cases of forced disappearance, 899 cases of arbitrary detention, 102 cases of torture, many of which led to death, permanent disability, complete paralysis of movement, or insanity and mental state, 98 cases of attacks on civilians, and 79 violations of freedom of opinion and expression.

According to various reports, the most important of which are the reports of the International Organization for Migration, which were monitored by the Human Rights Information and Rehabilitation Center #Hritc, the Houthi militia forcibly displaced and caused the displacement of about 4,269 families.
The total number of public properties affected by the violation reached 617 properties. 11 buildings were bombed, 87 buildings and public facilities were destroyed, 62 facilities and buildings were completely damaged, and 379 others were partially damaged. 31 public properties were stormed and looted, and 27 public vehicles were damaged.
While the total number of private properties affected by the violation reached about 3,617 properties, 169 homes were bombed, 224 homes and private facilities were destroyed, and 353 facilities were completely damaged.
In addition, Onehouse and partly with another 2,020. About 53 houses and facilities were stormed and looted, 628 private vehicles were damaged, and 190 other cases of violation of private property were monitored.
