21 violations documented by the Information Center during last March in Taiz

The Human Rights Information and Training Center (HRITC) announced that it had documented 21 cases of violations against civilians in the Taiz governorate during the month of March 2022.
The Houthi militia caused 6 cases, and 10 other cases were caused by armed men outside the framework of the state, while the government army caused 3 cases and unknown gunmen in two cases.
The center said in its monthly report entitled “Taiz .. Killing by Sniping” that its field team documented the killing of 8 civilians, including one woman. The Houthi militia caused the death of 4 of them, including a woman.
Where the Houthis killed 3 civilians, including one woman, by a sniper’s bullet, and one civilian by an explosive device, and 3 civilians were killed by direct fire from militants outside the framework of the state, and one civilian was killed by members of the government army.
The field center team was able to monitor the injury of two children, one of whom was injured by a Houthi sniper, while gunmen outside the framework of the state injured a child with direct bullets.
The field team documented the injury of 6 civilians, including a child, as a result of direct bullets fired by gunmen outside the framework of the state.
The center’s field team documented two cases of assault, one of which was carried out by armed men outside the framework of the state, another perpetrated by members of the government army, one case of kidnapping committed by members of the government army, and two cases of violations of freedom of opinion and expression, one of which was carried out by unknown armed men and the other carried out by armed men outside the framework of the state.
The field team monitored 6 cases of damage to public and private property, one of which was public property, where armed men outside the framework of the state threw a hand grenade at the wall of the Al-Ajinat cemetery near Al-Qubba Market.
Five cases of violations of private property were documented, including a house partially damaged as a result of shelling by counter-fire by the Houthi militia, and a vehicle partially damaged by unidentified gunmen.
The storming of a hotel, the partial damage of a shop, and the burning of IDP camps by armed men outside the framework of the state were also documented.
The report pointed out that a bloody massacre was committed by the Houthi militia, in which one civilian was killed and 3 others were injured, one of them seriously.
The report indicated that defenseless civilians, especially women and children, were targeted by snipers affiliated with the Houthi militia
The report dealt with the general situation in Taiz Governorate, the Houthi militia’s launch of forced recruitment campaigns for young fighters and children in the Sharaab al-Salam district, and the Houthi militia’s continuous bombing of the Hawban area.
The report also touched on the acute water crisis and the persistence of lawlessness in the liberated areas, blocking public roads, levies and extortion of citizens.
