Educational reform, what does it mean? And how should it be?
Education remains the most important link necessary for the development of any society, and reforming and developing education according to modern curricula and open visions is the first and most important step for making future horizons that we want.
In Yemen, we can call our first battle for progress the battle of educational reform – and getting it out of the tragedy of the current reality, because ensuring education reform simply means opening the windows of a bright future … and possessing the capabilities of excellence and getting rid of underdevelopment in all its forms and images.
This book is the summary of a great effort by Dr. Abdullah Al-Theifani as an educator who lived the reality of Yemeni education in all its stages and worked at all levels .. From a teacher in a school to a university professor in the College of Education.
It is not an academic vision separate from reality, but an education man first .. and an academic second.
In Human Rights Information and Training Center – HRITC, we have seen – since the beginning of our work to consolidate human rights principles and out of the circle of deterioration in general – that work on the education front is the basis on which we are betting, and successive studies on educational curricula in Yemen and specialized courses for education officials in The field of human rights, as well as knowledge seminars.
Dr. Abdullah Al-Theifani’s contributions with us in this field were tangible and remarkable, and this book is one of the results of cooperation for seminars and several studies by the researcher.
The book is an important addition that deserves wide and serious attention to the most important question that will still need a continuous effort on educational reform. What does it mean? And how should it be?
