HRITC condemns the Houthi bombing of civilians in Taiz and calls on the international community to activate accountability for perpetrators of crimes
Taiz /
The Human Rights Information and Training Center (HRITC) condemned the bombing by the Houthi militia of populated neighborhoods in the city of Taiz, which they carried out today, Saturday, November 7th.
The center’s statement said that the Houthi bombing targeted the eastern neighborhoods of Taiz, particularly the Rawda and Al-Ashbat market, which is one of the most popular markets in Taiz.
The HRITC field monitoring team confirmed that the tank shells stationed in the vicinity of the Sofitel focused on their bombing of residential neighborhoods and wounded eleven civilians, including children, and that there were seven injuries, including severe ones.
The Human Rights Information and Training Center (HRITC), a regional organization that has a consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations, said that the unjustified Houthi bombing of unarmed civilians is a clear approach that confirms the Houthi group’s insistence on committing declared war crimes that have found no deterrence from the international community.
This contributed to the continuation of violence and fighting and the targeting of unarmed civilians.
HRITC called on the international community, especially the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, to stand seriously to condemn these crimes and work to stop targeting civilians.
HRITC said that the perpetrators’ feeling that they will survive their crimes must end through the declaration by the international community, headed by the Security Council, to work with the principle of accountability and not to impunity for all perpetrators of crimes.
