- The late Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Saqqaf is an academic, economist, journalist, and human rights activist.
- Founder and Editor-in-Chief of “The Yemen Times”, the first English-language newspaper in Yemen.
- He is also a founding member of the HRITC and within the founding advisory body of the center.
- He received his PhD in 1979 from Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Medford, Massachusetts, USA.
- – He was elected in the first general assembly of the Arab Organization for Human Rights (1983) to the membership of the organization’s board of trustees.
He passed away in a traffic accident (still a matter of controversy) in Sana’a in 1999.
He won several recognition awards.
