HRITC calls for the release of all detainees in prisons and detention centers, especially women and children
Taiz /
The Human Rights Information and Training Center (HRITC) called for the release of all detainees in various Yemeni prisons and detention centers on all sides of the war.
A statement by the center said that the step that took place in the past two days of exchanging the release of hundreds of prisoners between the legitimate Yemeni government and the Houthi militia under the auspices of the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross is an excellent and welcome step, as the return of freedom for hundreds of people is an act that should be at the forefront of humanitarian tasks.
The Human Rights Information and Training Center (HRITC), a regional organization that has consultative status with the Economic and Social Council at the United Nations, called for the release of all detainees, especially women and children, who were not mentioned in the step that took place in the past two days.
In addition, to those who were kidnapped and detained without any justification other than being victims of the political conflict.
The Human Rights Information and Training Center (HRITC) was surprised by the silence of the international bodies about the detained women and children who were kidnapped by the Houthi group, and these authorities did not move a finger towards the most vulnerable and deserving groups.
HRITC statement issued today indicated that the failure to release the detainees, including women and children, as well as political detainees, especially those covered by the Security Council’s resolution, and political figures such as the politician Mohammed Qahtan, was a great disappointment.
In addition, that the United Nations, organizations and active personalities must pressure various parties to release everyone, and work to abolish secret prisons and detention centres and stop the phenomenon of disappearance and kidnapping, which has become a method for armed groups in Yemen in various regions of the war that has been going on for six years.
HRITC said in the conclusion of its statement that the continuation of the war, the continuation of the coup, and the kidnapping of state institutions remains the main goal that must be worked on even after peace in all parts of Yemen.
