HRITC calls for an international investigation into the burial of dozens of bodies by the Houthis
Taiz/
The Human Rights Information and Training Center (HRITC) said that there is a real concern over the lives of dozens of kidnapped people in various Yemeni prisons and detention centers, especially after the Houthi group announced the continuing burial of bodies that were said to be unidentified.
HRITC, a regional organization that has consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations, confirmed that the Public Prosecution of the Houthi militia announced today, Monday, that 35 bodies had been buried in Dhamar, central Yemen.
The militia said that they are unidentified bodies, and according to the Houthi group’s own statement, this is the fourth group of corpses that are buried. The number of those buried is 232, and there are up to more than seven hundred bodies that will be buried.
Although the Houthi group said that a representative of the Red Cross attended the burial process, this does not eliminate doubts about concealing horrific facts of torture and killing in secret prisons, in addition to the continued disappearance of hundreds of forcibly disappeared persons, and the process of identifying the bodies that were buried and not subjected to torture did not It is carried out by any neutral parties or representatives of international organizations.
The Houthi group did not publish photos of the dead and identify them to ensure that there are no relatives and that they are actually unknown, which raises many real concerns and that the matter may be behind the killing and liquidation of people opposed to the Houthi group and victims of torture.
HRITC called for an international investigation into this dangerous and important file. He also called for the release of all detainees and opening prisons to visit international organizations to check on the conditions of prisoners and the extent to which standards and minimum rules are applied for the treatment of prisoners.
