Arab activists call for an effective regional mechanism to protect human rights in the Arab region

Activists participating in the symposium on regional protection of human rights stressed the importance of activating the idea of implementing the Arab Court of Human Rights as a regional mechanism for the Arab region and strengthening the role of the Arab Charter for Human Rights.
This came in the special symposium organized today by the Human Rights Information and Training Center (HRITC) on mechanisms for regional protection of human rights.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Amin Al-Midani gave a comprehensive presentation on the development of regional and international human rights mechanisms and the importance of developing regional mechanisms.
Where Professor Meidani reviewed the development of the European Convention, the American Convention, and the African Charter on Human Rights, and compared that within the international protection mechanisms.

Professor Al Meidani, who is a professor of international law and human rights at the University of Strasbourg in France and a member of the Human Rights Information and Training Center (HRITC), stressed the need to activate the Arab protection mechanisms and strengthen the role of the competent authorities in reviving the idea of the Arab Court, as it will be an important addition that takes into account the existing developments and needs in the Arab region.
Ziad Khaled, Director of HRITC in Beirut, said that the Human Rights Information and Training Center – HRITC will work to activate the role of civil society in this framework in order to achieve the integration of the desired roles.
