Geneva:
The Human Rights Information and Training Center (HRITC), in cooperation with the Haqqi Center for Supporting Rights and Freedoms, confirmed today, Tuesday, October 5, 2021, that the Houthi militia’s illegal execution last month of 9 civilians from the Tihama area and without regard to fair trial guarantees is a grave violation of human rights law and systematic practice. for excellence,
This came during the statement of non-governmental organizations in the current session No. 48 of the Human Rights Council, deposited in the ninth item related to racism.
Legal Adviser Hani Al-Aswadi, head of the Haqqi Center and representative of the HRITC in Geneva, explained in the statement that the militia severely tortured these civilians before their execution, which resulted in the death of one of them under torture and the paralysis of a minor during a closed mock trial marred by serious violations of fair trial rules, indicating that these executions are considered discrimination. Racially against individuals belonging to the Tihama region, a large part of which is controlled by militias.
Al-Aswadi touched on the numerous violations committed by the militia in recent years against Bahais and Jews, pointing out that the militia has changed many school curricula, by erasing egalitarian values, and perpetuating racist ideas based on ethnic preference for the families of Houthi leadership circles.
In conclusion, the statement recommended the group of eminent international and regional experts to monitor, investigate and highlight these racist violations in its next report in order to ensure justice for the victims and not impunity for criminals.
