54 violations were documented by the Information Center last May in Taiz


Taiz / Special:

The Human Rights Information and Training Center (HRITC) announced that it had documented 54 violations against civilians in Taiz governorate during the month of May 2022.

The center said in its monthly report entitled “Taiz .. An Endless Siege” that its field team documented the killing of 6 civilians, including 3 children, two of whom were killed by the Houthi militia.

Where the Houthis killed a child with direct bullets, and another child with an artillery shell, and two civilians were killed by direct bullets of gunmen outside the framework of the state, and one civilian was killed by members of the government army, and another child was killed by unidentified gunmen.

The field center team was able to monitor the injury of 33 civilians, of whom the Houthi militia injured 24, while snipers injured 7 civilians, including two women and two children, and Houthi mines injured 4 civilians, including a woman, and two civilians, including a woman, were wounded by a Houthi shell, while 11 civilians, including a woman, were injured. Houthi drone strikes.

Armed men outside the framework of the state injured 6 civilians with direct fire, while two civilians were injured, one of whom was a woman who ran over a military crew of members of the government army, and one civilian was injured as a result of being attacked by members of the government army.
The field team documented the injury of 6 civilians, including a child, as a result of direct bullets fired by gunmen outside the framework of the state.

The picture is of children from the besieged city of Taiz during a peaceful march demanding the lifting of the siege, and the phrase carried by the girl says, “Ignoring the siege of Taiz exposes all peace traffickers”.

The center’s field team documented one case of kidnapping carried out by armed men outside the framework of the state, one case of assault committed by members of the government army, and one case of a mass violation of freedom of opinion and expression committed by armed men outside the framework of the state.

The field team monitored 12 cases of damage to public and private property, one of which was public property, where gunmen belonging to several factions in the government army stormed a government school, seized it, and expelled its guard.

11 cases of violations of private property were documented, including two houses completely and 3 vehicles damaged as a result of the bombing by the Houthi militia, 4 houses were partially damaged by anti-Houthi militia bullets, a private vehicle was completely damaged by a mine explosion planted by the Houthi militia, and a house was partially damaged by gunmen outside the framework of the state.

The report dealt with the general situation in the governorate of Taiz and the Houthi militia’s continuation of committing many violations of the UN armistice in its second month and committing many crimes against defenseless civilians.

Violations of the truce were represented by shelling, sniping, many casualties as a result of mines, the flight of drones carrying missiles, and other flagrant violations criminalized by international humanitarian law, among others.

The report also touched on the need to end the siege disaster in order to overcome the most prominent and most dangerous security challenges in Taiz, on top of which is the movement of gangs and wanted men easily in the direction of Houthi sites, which confirms this relationship between militias and outlaws, and fixes the economic deterioration itself, since the removal of obstacles to the siege It will mean a wide movement of goods, money and various services.
